Maryland governor signs death penalty repeal - CNN.com
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/o...6#.UYOdqkogWCY

Gov. Martin O'Malley definitely has something to prove and will more than likely run for president in 2016.

This along with the strict gun control bill he as signed and the many other liberal agendas he's pushing, Maryland can't be southern, not in this day and age.

Theres no question that Maryland isn't Southern. The cultural South doesn't start until you leave the NOVA suburbs. VA is the first state of dixie these days...Maryland left a LONG time ago.

I am already preparing my efforts to volunteer for the petition movement. I am a veteran of the petitions against the illegal alien Dream Act and against gay marriage. Maryland is NOT southern in Montgomery COunty but there are places like the Eastern Shore, Western Maryland, and Carroll and Harford Counties where American values still run deep and people are very angry about the trend this state's taken .Especially with them raising our taxes so that illegals can get a free ride and raising the gas tax to subsidize mass transit in the urban areas and with gun control. And then there is the rain tax, wind farm tax, and flush tax that only Maryland has.

And so many people are fed up with O'Malley, many will vote for the death penalty just to stick it to O'Malley and his stooges in the General Assembly, the way they voted for the Dream Act to support O'Malley and Obama. I am mixed on the gun control petition. I think we should rely on the courts for that particular battle since the radical liberalism in Montgomery County will still be a problem regarding gun control more so than death penalty.

And win or lose, this will be the last hurrah for myself and some good friends of mine as we prepare to leave Maryland in the next year. And win or lose, I will know that I done right by my God and country.

It's about time this happened, quite frankly. I don't agree with the high taxes but repealing the death penalty is a step in the right direction.

What steps further steps do you feel should be taken?

Yeah that death penalty repeal will be comforting to the survivors of prisoners or corrections personnel who are killed by an inmate already serving life without parole. We can really punish him now.

Many upon many such as myself left 20+ years ago as the writing was already on the wall back then. Unfortunately i think it is gonna take Maryland turning into what Detroit has been before people wake up to that ruling party which has been leaving one disaster after the next in city's etc all across this country. Detroit may finally be starting to slowly turn the corner ( can thank a gop governor ) but it has a very long ways to go especially if the people turn around and vote for that same party ( city election ) that has been failing them for over 50 years.

Oh and LOL @ O'Malley ( and anyone else ) thinking he has a shot at the White House.

Better for Montgomery and PG to leave......imagine Western Maryland, Eastern Shore, combined with Frederick, Carroll, and Harford and Southern Maryland and most of Baltimore County......we can easily outvote the liberals left in Baltimore City and Howard County!!!!! Baltimore will just become a crime-ridden Democratic voting cesspool island in a Red State kinda like Memphis, Baton Rouge, St. Louis, or Atlanta and certain portions of New Orleans.

If MoCo and PG left......gay marriage might still have passed. But the illegal alien Dream Act, gas tax, alcohol tax, cigarette tax, gun control, death penalty repeal, flush tax, wind farm tax, and rain tax will all have been defeated. We would have told Baltimore City to tax themselves if they wanted the REd Line and not increased the gas tax, and the tolls would not have gone up to build the ICC. And the casino laws would be less strict and gambling would be more profitable. And natural gas drilling can happen in Western Maryland and the farmers of the Eastern Shore will see less crippling government regulations. There would also be no PlanMaryland pushing growth into Pennsylvania and West Virginia. People commute down 83 from Shrewsbury to Towson for an affordable single family home. There are people commuting from West Virginia to Hagerstown and to Montgomery County even.
