Greetings
For commuting between BWI and New York via Amtrak, and using the BWI Amtrak station in Maryland, are there any parking options besides the MARC garage there? They do not issue monthly passes for Amtrak users, so it's 9 $ a day and for multiple multiday trips a month it can add up. If the timings are uncertain
is there only this option (as it's walkable from the station) or are there regular shuttles to other parking lots on weekends and weekdays?
Thanks
W.

There's nowhere to park and walk. You could maybe save a couple of bucks using the offsite parking lots for BWI Airport (like Fastpark), but you should call first to make sure they can bring you/pick you up from BWI Amtrak. I'm not sure they can.

Is your company not expensing this for you?

I do this trip often and am not aware of any other lots; at most you'd save $3 using the 3rd party parking services, but I'm not sure if they will shuttle you.

no It'd be on my own dime. at that point i would
not be working for a company that expenses anything..
But if I had to stomach the 9$ daily rate, do they kick you out if you're only using Amtrak and not MARC- ie that lot seems to have a non Amtrak slant-of by and for Maryland transit excluding Amtrak.
So one can park there for a few days at a stretch if catching the Amtrak trains as long as one can pay?
thanks

You can park there as long as you'd like so long as you pay. I think I parked there for 5 days once.

Me too; it's just $9 per 24-hour period.

I'm sorry that your company is not compensating you, but commuting to NY weekly on your own dime is kinda nuts.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but wondering if it would work for OP to buy a monthly MARC pass for BWI-Baltimore Penn. That ticket is $100. After 11 days you break even. I've never tried this but it seems possible in theory. Anyone else want to confirm this?

Are you talking about doing MARC from wherever he lives to BWI and then pick up Amtrak from there? That sounds like a recipe for disaster if MARC is running late. That said, they did seem to be mostly on time when I was regularly taking the Acela to NY.
