Hi All-

We are moving to MD (from out of state) to Severna Park and our oldest would be starting middle school. Has anyone ever moved there with a child going into 6th and how did it go? It seems like such a huge school and our child has been at a smaller private school - just wondering how the transition went and in general if people are happy with the middle school. The class sizes themselves seem quite large - tried last month to go look at the school when we were house hunting but they don't allow that.

Thanks for any input!

SPMS is the best middle school in AACPS--at least one of the best. Top of the chain, state of the art, most money, etc. etc. The list goes on. Class sizes are that of any public school--large-expect about 30-35 kids per class. Teachers are very good, but parental involvement can be helicopter-ish--and administration for that matter to their teachers. Lots of technology and overall high expectations across the board. Private to public--at SPMS--will be seamless. I'm a teacher at a neighboring school and SPMS is always on top with regard to test scores.

Severna Park schools are blue ribbon, you don't get better in AACO. You're not going to have a small class size but it's a great school.
