I visited Cumberland in June 2014 and decided that it was not a place for me to move. I grew up in Baltimore and moved to a small town in southern, PA about 12 years ago. I felt like that while Cumberland may be affordable, that there would not be much to do there and I thought that over all it was a depressing place. Much of the housing looks rundown and I don't think I would want to live there as it reminds of the situation in Baltimore. I spent 3 days in Western, MD and although I liked Lavalle and Frostburg, I don't believe I could be happy living there either. Right now, I think that I am just going to stay put in Glen Rock, PA. There is not much to do here, but we have low crime and it's a short drive to York, Hanover and not too far to get back to Crabtown (Baltimore - 45 miles) when I want to go to the big city.

Thank you for the insight on Cumberland, I was interested but I prefer the area in Cecil County for some the reasons you submitted and its closer to family.

No place is perfect for everyone. If Glen Rock suits you better than Cumberland, then that's where you should be.
