If so, are they supposed to leave a copy in the apartments they rent? I wasn't sure if the rules are different in cities and in rural areas?

It depends on the jurisdiction.

I currently live in Wicomico County and it is in a rural section, I thought the rules may be different here.

I was thinking about renting out my house when I leave the state, but saw that there’s some stupid environmental rule about houses needing to be lead paint inspectied between EACH tenant.

EFF that. I’ll just sell and leave big brother sanctuary state Maryland behind. Take my money and go.

If you can get your house certified "lead free" then you don't have to play this game, fyi. There are a few companies around who can do this; its about $300ish last I heard.

Thanks for that info...very helpful.

But that hoop shouldn't even be needed at all. I'd rather sell and let my money make money than deal with being a landlord....especially in a tenant friendly jurisdiction. A family member had a tenant in a place like that...it was ridiculous what you had to go through to get a person out.

True. Maryland has some of the strongest "tenant-friendly" laws in the country.
