Hi,
My husband will be working off the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295) in Ft. George G. Meade, Md and I will be working somewhere in the Chantilly, VA area. Which place would be a good option for us to live that is kind of in the middle so our commutes are not terrible? It is important the place is family friendly (like Ashburn) with good schools and safe. Our budget would be around $2000-2300 rent. We would like a 2-3 bedroom townhouse. Thanks!

I can't even imagine working in such disparate locations - any way to change one of the job locations?

Another crazy commute lol. people really like putting on miles here! Anyway because of gas prices, i would recommend Silver spring, greenbelt, bethesda or just living in DC.

living in VA is good but traffic there is worse i think

Look into Rockville. My husband is commuting right now into Chantilly and we live in Ellicott City (I do NOT recommend this by the way) but I think Rockville splits the distance into Meade and might work with your budget.

Greenbelt was my first thought. Right off of Rt 295 for him and I-495 for you. Greenbelt would also be a good area for the price point you are looking for. I don't know what your definition of "family friendly" is, but most people in the DC region tend to stay to themselves, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are not "friendly" people.

Greenbelt to Chantilly is a long, long commute though.
