Good evening!

I am thinking someone from Salsbury within this forum will possibly have some information as well as in the Virginia forum.

A friend may have a job in the Onancock area. Are there any suggestions where someone can live which is a nice and not too costly area? He doesn’t mind living further away from Onancock. An hour may be too far but I will go for that distance for now. He is 56 years old and doesn’t need a lot of things to do (night life, etc). Also, is there any additional information you may like to share about that area and or surrounding?

Thank you for your time.
Tanya

Salisbury is more than an hour away from Onancock. If they are looking to live in Maryland and not Virginia, Pocomoke City might be a viable option. It is about 40 minutes away. That whole area is pretty rural so not a lot of choice if looking for a town/city type area to live in.

Not too familiar with Onancock in general as I live about an hour up in MD but VA's eastern shore isn't an expensive area by far.

Salisbury, MD is about a tad over an hour away and that is the "big city" of DelMarVa, and it's not big at all. VA beach would be about 1 1/2 hours away but you need to cross a 17 mile bridge tunnel across the bay. Pocomoke City, MD, right above the MD/VA border, would be the closest "populated" town

Good on not needing much as there isn't much to do unless he likes the water, outdoors, fishing and hunting.

This whole area is rural and small towns. Chicken is king as most of the corn and bean fields are chicken feed and Perdue, Tyson and Mountaire are big here.

Fishing is another large industry, both recreational and commercial, and hunting is popular as well.

Ocean City, MD is about a tad over an hour away and is the main resort of the area and isn't a bad day trip to get back to somewhat of a civilization and has an assortment of good restaurants if desired. Closer to Onancock is Chincoteque, another tourist town but much smaller then OC. I live on the west side of OC, MD and take many cruises down to Chincoteque if I want to change the scenery around and go to a different beach then Assateque.

Pocomoke City, MD would probably be a decent area to look into if he doesn't mind a little 30/45 minute drive perhaps. It would put him between Salisbury, MD (with everything such as all big stores, mall, DR's and Hospital), about 1/2 hour away and Onancock, another 1/2 hour or so away. And Pocomoke is an affordable area as well and has most things needed right there without needing to take a drive!
