Columbia is the Place
"great schools, access to good shopping/services, and with a somewhat diverse population of nationalities, including some Jews" pretty much sums up Columbia. IT is probably the most racially-diverse area in Maryland, not counting the DC suburbs, which you should not consider unless a 3-hour roundtrip commute is your cup of tea.
