Hope you get a good suggestion. The last time I was there to pick up my daughter I pulled over to the curb, and she was literally ten steps from my car but the guards still started swarming around me telling me to move on. Was I supposed to fling the passenger door open while driving so she could make a running jump without me actually having to stop the car?

yes.

actually I had the same experiance almost exactly, my advice is to tell your frind to redirect their flight to BWI if possable, otherwise good luck and I would love to hear where you can pick up people, because the p.o.s guards there, told me nothing and made me leave, as my friend, LITERLY ran after my car with his carry on. yet another reason, this d.c./baltimore area is the pits.

Park (actually stand) your car in the Cell Phone waiting lot (free / follow the signs). You have to stay with the car. When they're ready they can call or text you to pull around to the terminal and pick them up. Security will allow you to do that, but you can't sit there too long.

Cell phone lot is the best suggestion, or you can just go in the hourly lot which I think has 20 minutes free or something like that.

Depends of course on what airline and gate. Terminals A and C, as you would imagine, have a bit of hike between them so best to check and see where they'll be coming in.

There are police cars 24/7 in the arrival area, so if you do 'park' or 'stand' or 'wait' there you'll get asked to move (i.e. why they created the free cell phone waiting area).

Traffic shouldn't be that bad on a Saturday though.

Definitely do the cellphone waiting area, and make sure the people you're picking up are waiting right at the curb when you come around and get them.
