We currently live in Frederick and, believe it or not, despite the fact that I am only about 20 minutes away from Hagerstown I know next to nothing about it.
We are a family of 4 - which includes two girls, ages 8 & 2. We have been looking into the possible purchase of a new home in the "Westfields" subdivision - which is on Rt. 65 (Sharpsburg Pike... right down from the Prime Outlets). We know that there will be an elementary school built right in the subdivision (which is nice) but......
is this a decent area? What are the middle and high schools like?
Any input?

Hi,
I can't answer any specific questions about the schools, but I can say that it seems like a very nice subdivision. I live in Chambersburg, PA but work at the prisons (there are 3) down the street from Westfields. Probably the only drawback I see is the traffic going down Sharpsburg Pike, primarily during the prison shift changes. I see cars trying to make left turns out of the neighborhood and it seems like it is challenging around 0720 or so. I have a co-worker that lives fairly close to that subdivision, but she sends her daughter to the local Catholic school. I don't know about that neighborhood, but it seems as those prices in the area are softening a bit with more inventory available. I also see quite a few builder incentives being offered for neighborhoods in that part of MD; Franklin Cty, PA; and areas in WV.
