I'm talking about field mice that get in the house in the winter to keep warm and summer to keep cool. I live in Sudbury next to conservation land and I have to deal with them all the time. I'm curious if more dense populated towns like Wellesley, Lexington and Newton have them as well or only in houses located around wooded areas? I grow up in Arlington and we never had mice although we did have a cat for 16 years... thanks..

We had them in Melrose (densely populated) as well as Reading. I think there's no escaping them.

Never seen a mouse in our house in Lynnfield and we border conservation land. However, we do have 2 cats and a dog. There is a chipmunk that occasionally hangs out in our detached garage.

Great question.... I almost bought a house a few months ago and during inspection, we noticed 6+ mice caught on sticky traps thru out the house. Gross!!! The house is next to wooded land as well (in density populated Medford), so I wonder if that makes the house mice-prone more so than a house that isn't next to the woods.

Apparently, if your really seal up the house to eliminate points of entry, the problem will be much less. Though there are so many potential places that it's easier said than done. Mice can get in practically everywhere (even climb up the downsprout to the roof).
