Hello Everyone!

We're relocating to Boston and looking to buy a house. In the mean time, we need a place to stay for 3-4 months. I've been able to find plenty of off-season rentals up in Gloucester, but we'd rather live closer to Boston proper.

Lynn would be ideal, Peabody, Swampscott, Marblehead all good. I've found a few short-terms in these areas.

What I really can't seem to find is anything short-term closer to the city. I've searched Craigslist and various professional short-term rental sites for short-terms in Revere and other points closer to Boston and the airport but come up with nothing. Maybe my problem is my price limit of 1200/month? Still, I'd think I might find a studio or 1-br (furnished or unfurnished), but I've come up with absolutely nothing.

Does anyone know of any resources that might help me out? We'll be apartment hunting in the area next week, so if there's some local ad book/paper I should pick up, that would really help me out.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you tried calling various apartment complexes? If they have some vacancies they might be willing to rent on a month to month. Though I'm sure the rent would be higher than standard. I hear it's a landlord's market, so may to tough to find one without a year lease.

I also think there are some realtors that deal with apartments in Salem, just not sure which ones. You might want to give a few of them a call, or google it.

Extended Stay America has locations in Woburn, Danvers, Tewksbury and I think in Peabody.

They advertise on Craigslist during their slower times. They're as low as $899-$999 plus tax if booking for min. 60 days. Tewksbury leans toward that lower price.

But this time of year, it may not be available.

Just curious, if your rental budget is only $1200 per month, what kind of mortgage amount are you planning on?

I would look here:

Essex Place - Peabody, MA Apartment Floorplans

Avalon Danvers - Danvers, MA Apartment Floorplans

Try Danvers and Saugus Avalon (and other big apartment complexes)!

there are motels to be had for ~200-250 week if you don't mind that. And one room apartments for 150/wk.

Your best bet is metro-west like acton, its cheaper than the north shore.
