I've seen some posts previously on this question, but it's still a little shady to me. I just transferred my job from Mass to New Hampshire within the same company. Do I have to change any of my tax deductions because of this? I don't want to end up paying $$ at the end of the year.... I know NH does not have income tax, but I'm still getting tax $ taken out for massachusetts in my check. Confused on the whole tax thing between Mass and New Hampshire.........can someone clarify??

Simple as pie...

You still have to pay MA income tax because you're MA resident.

If NH has income tax, you pay them first. Then, you pay MA.

For example,

NH tax is 2% and MA is 5%... you pay NH 2% and then 3% to MA....
if NH tax is 8% and MA is 5% ... you pay NH 8% and 0% to MA...
Since NH is 0%... you pay MA 5%...

If you buy a house in NH. and work in MA, then you are going to pay the the insanely high NH property tax and MA tax. And the Car rigistration in just as insane in NH. the best thing is to just rent in NH. If you do the math on a $300,000 home with an average $7000 NH prop tax muliplied by 10 years = $70,000. People are foolish to buy in NH. I live in Derry and pay $8400 in taxes on a $320,000 home. And work in MA and pay $3400 to MA with no representation.
