I am still not sold on the idea that recreational marijuana is a good thing for the state or not.

I do believe in medical marijuana but having it available to the average person I believe it will be abused.

Last night on the news the reporter seemed excited that pot will soon be available. He talked about how an adult could buy it in a bag, readyrolled joints, premade brownies and gummies. There is even an oil you can put in your Ecigarette.

They interviewed a Police chief from one of the towns that has a shop opening on Tuesday and he said that they will treat it just like a store that sells alcohol. That makes sense but there is a sobriety test if you are pulled over for drunk driving but nothing is available to tell if a driver is above the legal limit when it comes to pot.

The question is will we see thousands of people turn out to buy their pot come Tuesday? Will it be a rush like the doors opening at Walmart on Black Friday or a more composed crowd? Will they line up at 9:00 am or a more sedated 12 noon?

How will the public at large view the dispensaries that were voted in 2 years ago if there is a rash of automobile accidents or several kids over dose after eating their parents gummy bears?

Our elected leaders seem to love the idea of legal pot due to the windfall of a new tax stream but in the end will the fall out of the negative outweigh the added revenue? Time will tell.

What are your thoughts?

Today's pot is yesterdays tobacco. It was so cool in the 1920s... until they realized it caused nothing but death and $$ for big tobacco CEOs.

Pot has been consumed illegally for years. Overall all scientific evidence we have show that it's a good bit safter than alcohol.

I don't understand how that is pot's fault. Like anything it comes down to personal responsibility. I can have four Benedryl this afternoon and get into an accident.

I think a greater emphasis needs to be placed on personal responsiblity and tougher sentences for those who throw it to the wind.

I think the elected officials chose Tuesday because so many people will be busy with Thanksgiving they are hoping it won't be a big rush.

I think it is a good thing.

politicians dragged their feet for two years. Don't see much evidence of legalizing it everywhere else causing the apple cart to flip over. Sure the shops will be busy the first month or so. Kids get alcohol too, adults fault. I used to live on the Cape, what else is there to do from Xmas to Easter there?

I think it's extremely stupid to have only 2 shops approved for legalization. It has been over 2 years since voters approved the mesure, you're telling me the cannabis control commission could only approve 2 shops in that time period. It screems corruption and incompetence. The Leicester and Northampton stores will print money while they're the only outlets in the state. You also have issues with traffic in a small town like Leicester.

You can debate weather it should be legalized or not, but this process is an absolute embarrassment. Colorado had shops open all over the state in half of the time.

There will also be one in Fall River (on the Tiverton, RI line) opening very soon.

It seems the state is being cautious and selective at this point. The stores opening are all organized medical dispensaries that have a long standing reputation.

I agree the state is being careful because there are many people who oppose pot shops including the Feds.

There has been an ad on the radio lately about investing in pot but there are warnings that you might lose all your money and the market might never develop to trade the stocks making them worthless.

It will be strange to see pot shops pop up and it will be interesting to see what type of people go into the shops.

I do think it is possible for these shops to be managed properly but time will tell and what it all comes down to is personal responsibility of the users but as we have seen in so many cases today personal responsibility is as rare as common sense.

It just sits wrong with me to give 2 businesses a de facto monolopy in the entire state. The owners of those businesses are going to become very rich because they got favorable treatment by the government.

There are 42 medical marijuana dispensarys in the state, yet only 2 are given the green light to start off.

The CCC should have approved all 42 to sell recreational marijuana (assuming they had approval in their respective commuties), or postponed the date until all were approved.
