Question for anyone who lives in Sudbury - what do residents do with their yard waste? From what I've read on the town website, it's not collected by the town and residents can't even haul it themselves to the transfer station. I can't imagine everyone paying thousands a year for professional cleanup.

I'm surprised to hear that they don't have an area in the transfer station for yard waste. Some towns don't regularly pick up yard waste but do have a specific day during the fall when they will pick it up. Also, there are private companies that will pick up yard waste as well. The company that collects my trash does it for a $1/bag or something like that.

They do have an area at the transfer station for yard waste but it is only open seasonally. Many residents also get a burn permit from the fire station and will burn excess yard waste. Many residents also haves the wooded lots so they either blow or have their landscaping companies blow the waste into a specific part of the woods to decompose.

Thanks Noki. I didn't realize the transfer station had a spot for yard waste since it wasn't mentioned in the online on the DPW website. I am definitely looking for a wooded lot for both privacy and to save time on yard work.
