Recently moved here from NM, and was happy that my auto insurance premium decreased quite a bit. NM has plenty of uninsured motorists and thefts which are taken across the border which I assume does not happen too much here.

One charge on my new policy is a "Merit Rating Plan" in the amount of $114. I don't understand what this is other than it is somehow related to my driving history which is pretty good.

Is this a low amount/high amount..something worth questioning or disputing?

The merit rating plan assigns "points" based on your driving experience. For instance, speeding tickets, other moving violations and at-fault accidents will cause your rate to rise.

If you have questions about your specific policy, you should call your agent.

I did and discovered ( after I did the math ) that my score is 99% which means I got a $114 DEDUCTION and that the form was printed incorrectly showing a $114 ADDITION to my plan. Sloppy paperwork.
