For those who have not read my first post, I am in theearly stages of the home buying process – looking to buy 3-5 years fromnow. Just starting to do my research.
I am a single woman about to turn 50. I am looking for acondo/townhouse that is more “house like”. I have no interest in condos thatare apartment style living. No kidsinvolved so that does not factor into the mix.

I am looking for something that has a small patch ofgrass out front, a driveway and garage, and a small patch of grass out back. I want to be free of outdoor maintenance so Iwant a place where the grass is mowed and the snow is shoveled. I don’t have a green thumb and have no desireto take up gardening or any outdoor up keep.
I am looking for 2-3 bedrooms, 2 – 2 ½ baths. Most everything else is flexible until I start fine tuning theneeds/wants list I have thus far. I amaware that these are often attached homes though some are detached. Either isfine.

I know some of these complexes have other amenities but Ineed to be mindful of HOA and membership fees. I don’t want to pay forsomething I won’t be using, like golf. But I might use a pool, fitness center, restaurant etc.
As I don’t think I will be making a real estate purchasefor a few years, by then I could consider a 55+ community though notexclusively.

I live just north of Boston so geographically I knowthose communities best but don’t know where such housing exists. I am also opento Metro West or the Plymouth area where I have family.
Can anyone recommend specific condo/townhome complexes Ishould be looking at? I’ve heard the names Pinehills and White Cliffs inPlymouth but don’t know about any others anywhere else.

Everyone was so helpful with my first post. I know I can count on the members here tosteer me in the right direction.

Thank you!

Your description is exactly what I bought last yr... I share 1 wall (and the roof), but have my own little yard, garage, driveway, etc... I've noticed one after another new construction side-by-side style duplexes popping up in Natick close to the train station. They sell like hot cakes BTW.

You never mentioned your price range - that's one of the most important clues. The units I mentioned are pretty high end.... $600K and up. Typically when it's just 2 or 3 units, there is no HOA and they are not in a big complex (so you can't look them up by name). The owners share the Master Insurance. Some share the exterior maintenance cost (mowing, snow removal, etc) while some just do their own side.

Thanks for the feedback. Any other recommendations from anyone? Budget is probably under $450K for at minimum 2 bedroom 2 bath in a houselike condo/townhome, not apartment style.

Is there not a townhouse development around Bedford Air Force Base. Out route 2A toward Concord?

Found it. Hartwell Farms by Pulte. Start at $600K.

Had some friends that lived in a nice townhouse development off of I495 in Chelmsford back in 2001. Sorry but I forget the name.
