Hi, I'm from RI... as you might know, the job market completely stinks here. My husband is employed in Framingham and I will be working in Norwood. Currently, I live in the Kent County portion of RI and we do not want to make the 50 minute- 70 minute commute every day.

Our criteria is: We would like to stick as close as possible to the 300k range, good school district, and rural. Also, we have 2 small children so safety is a big factor. Ideally, we would want the house to be at least 2000 sq feet, relatively new and an acre of land and for the commute to be less than 40 minutes away from either one of us. Does any town exist that has what we are looking for?

Thank you for your help!

300k and an acre of land and decent schools, well, that is a tall order... My brother lived in Medfield and liked it, but paid about double that, and it was 1/3rd acre... and that was years ago. Good luck.

Yup, but no jobs always the trade off.

People here might have suggestions. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom condo 40 mins from the city and will be spending a couple of hundred thousand for something decent.

To the OP: Give Millis a look. The schools are decent. The house won't be new, though.

Are there ever 300k single family 1 acre places in Millis? Just wondering. I think that is townhouse price in that area.

I think if you look hard you can find something decent in Franklin Walpole and occasionally Natick.

A single family on an acre for $300K in Natick? That would be a tough find.

Yeah, I saw a 2 bd, 2 ba house on a 10,000 sf lot in my old neighborhood in Natick sell for just over $300k last year. They promptly gutted it, knocked off the roof and built a 2nd story.

Millis has gotten out of the sub-$300k range, but Medway and Franklin still have some in that price range.
