Not if the electrician feels the inspector might hold him or the owner accountable for the rest of the house and require it to be brought up to current code.


Pulling permits means (usually) an inspector comes in and looks around. Might not be ideal if there is a lot of unpermitted, mickeymoused electrical work in plain sight.
