If the OP is concerned then he should realize all buyers will be concerned thus come time to sell their will be less interested buyers. Kind of a White Elephant.

I say unless you can "steal" the place and plan on living there for many years then pass on by.

I lived on a train line in Newton but it was a rental and I was rarely home. I would have never considered settling there and raising a family.

Your wife makes good judgement calls. I think I should listen to my wife's RE comments more too.

Btw, why the move from Groton?

Personal preference. Beautiful town with great schools but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to quiet for us. We thought we'd like the cul-de-sac, big private lot, big house, etc...turns out we want a small house in a busy town with sidewalks to/from amenities. Being able to step out the front door with a stroller and walk to get a coffee is huge for us

How old are your children? When they are really little having a big yard in a cul-de-sac is useless but once they reach about 5 all that safe play area is great. I have an eight year old who rides his bike throughout the neighborhood and runs in the yard with his friends.
