Read close. It is a two unit condo. While I like (and have lived in) condos, a two unit can have real issues if any disagreements on what needs to done, dues, etc. as the vote on anything can be one to one. I say avoid condos that only have a few units.

Could $300K get a townhouse type condo versus apartment, multi story type in the towns the OP has in mind? Townhouse as in multi story, no units above, below, in front, nor in back of you. Maybe another one on either side but that is all. Many even have garages.

$300K is a tough budget to work with anywhere within shouting distance of Newton unless you're willing to buy a small, single floor condo. Some of the towns on the list like Millis for example are pretty affordable. However, they don't have tons and tons of condos and the single families are still outside of the OP's budget.
