Based on an article in the Globe which quotes a survey by someone I've never heard of, which says this is the best state to live in:

America’s Best and Worst States to Live In - 24/7 Wall St.

And there's also a survey by the Washington Post which diddles the numbers to claim we're the smartest people too:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...f234-285661313

I hope that giant URL works. But if you're from Massachusetts you should be able to figure it out.

That pesky little state sure throws a lot of weight around, considering its low obesity rate.

I don't trust any best-of rankings that includes New Jersey in the top 5.

But, but, but...isn't Washington D.C. the most literate place in the land, at least according to the latest "most literate" poll I saw. Actually, Boston is never near the top of the top 10 most literate cities over the years, iirc.

Not sure if one can be smart without being literate.

D.C. and literate must include the VA/MD suburbs and not just the D.C. core, I suppose.

Am I the only one who takes these surveys too seriously...me and a few C-D zealots? But even though most say they take the lists with a grain of whatever, most can't resist checking out those polls, right?

I don't take them too seriously, but I always check. It's like looking at a car wreck most of the time, you don't really want to, but you can't look away. I check because I like to see just how bad the criteria is. Most of the times it's ridiculously bad.
