I'd like to change up the scenery of long weekend runs, and wonder if this is a realistic thing to do? Surely someone has attempted something along the lines of the Boston Marathon route on their own?
I trained for a marathon a few years ago and ran from Wellesley College to Brookline and back. I varied the out and back distance from 16-22 miles. I couldn't do the straight marathon route due to the logistics of having to drop off a car and getting back to the start.
The route up to BC/Cleveland Circle is very pedestrian friendly. If you run on a Saturday or Sunday, you will see a ton of people out running the route. The Dana Farber team Marathon team and several others use this for their team long runs.
