No doubt that many people in that area are entitled. They are not the only town in MA that behaves that way. But again there will be other issues in all types of neighborhoods. You just happen to live in a spoiled one.

lol. That parking lot is the freaking WORST.

And ali, we bought all of our rugs at Building 19, too! When you have kids and pets and you're hard on everything in your house, that was the best place for rugs. We need a new bound remnant for our basement and I could have gotten a huge one at B19 for like $30. I don't even know where to look!

The makes and models may change, but the behavior remains the same. You'll find this just about anywhere you go, sadly.

I don't think you can blame Hinghamites for the Derby Street congestion. Everyone from all over the South Shore goes there. When I lived in Abington, I still drove there once a week because it is a nice place to take a little toddler. You can do some shopping and let the toddler stretch his/her legs next to the stroller as you walk and listen to the music. Then I'd stop and get a coffee inside the Barnes and Noble and finish with a lunch from Panera or Whole Foods. We love all the landscaping too. It's pleasant as long as you don't go on a weekend, school vacation, or anytime after Thanksgiving and before Christmas Now that I've moved, I'm even closer and I do it more often. I do miss Building 19 tremendously though. The rugs were the best! They just closed the Hanover one a few years ago and I mourned.

Haha! Same here. I prefer to browse and purchase rugs in person because I am picky about color and texture. Rug stores are expensive! I will probably pay twice what I would have paid at Building 19. All of the other discount types stores (Home Goods, etc.) don't have great rugs.

Does Ocean State Job Lot have this type of thing?

And yeah, I liked B19, and the cartoons.

This is definitely not unique to Hingham. The worst drivers in the world congregate in shopping centers and malls. I tend to avoid malls in general, but I had to drive to the North Shore mall last weekend. In the quarter of a mile it took to drive from the entrance to the parking area, I was cut off and almost plowed into by two separate large SUVs. Grocery stores aren't much better. I try to park as far away from the entrance as possible to minimize getting hit.

I have yet to be disappointed by the beer works.

If we feel like splurging we'll do it at Fresh Market. We don't use TJs much which is funny because for awhile there we were making the trip to the TJs in Hanover.

I will say, though, don't turn up your nose at Whole Foods until you've checked their grocery aisles. It's the perimeter and the HBA aisle which contribute to the "Whole Paycheck" moniker.

I've been to Beer Works a handful of times. The food there is pretty good, but the service is absolutely atrocious. We waited 17 minutes to be greeted by a server after sitting before complaining and leaving. I worked in the restaurant industry in my younger days. It takes a lot for me to complain.

But more importantly everyone: can we all have a moment of silence for the Hingham Bay Club?

Oh yeah i'm definitely not blaming just Hingham for this. It IS a lot of people on the south shore from Kingston to Southie who go there.

OMG I used to take my mother there at least once or twice a month! I miss it too...never had a bad meal there.
