Tell me it was a Tesla and I'd be impressed.

and there are people living in the projects with EBT cards driving around in Range Rovers and Mercedes. I'd rather it go to someone who can actually afford it.

Well said! Who cares what parents buy for their own
children. If they work hard to earn that money they can buy whatever they want

The mom has never worked outside the home. She is a stay at home mom.

As long as the taxpayers aren't paying for it, who cares?

Seems to be the vehicle of the moment for young teen drivers in Hingham whose parents (and grandparents) can afford it. Those that can't afford a Lexus get a jeep.

I care. Because I am living in Hingham and I have a child here. This is my child's close friend. It's hard to explain to your children that she will not be receiving a vehicle for her exclusive use.

It doesn't require explanation. You all know why I posted this. If you move to Hingham this type of event occurs everyday. This is what you will be dealing with when you live here.

Are parents in Lincoln or Ipswich or Milton exactly the same? It just seems to be an ostentatious choice purchased with an intent to impress and attract attention. Welcome to Hingham. Is it the same in every affluent greater Boston town? Just wondering, because I don't really know.

'The mom has never worked outside the home. She is a stay at home mom.'

and the dad?? Again, who cares?? Sounds like the woman married rich or got great alimoney

'I care. Because I am living in Hingham and I have a child here. This is my child's close friend. It's hard to explain to your children that she will not be receiving a vehicle for her exclusive use. '

That is life! What is so hard about explaining this?? You say, they have more money than we do OR we choose not to spend our money that way. You are starting to make things more complicated than they should be.

Yes there are some rich people in Milton who spoil their kids, that's their perogative.

Sounds like you really should move if you are reading into these things like this. At the end of the day it's not really your business why a 16 year old's parents bought them a fancy car.

Thanks, I feel so much better now! My daughter will be thrilled to know that we probably make less money than her friend's parents, and even if we made more that's not how we'd choose to spend it, on an expensive car for her. 'Just make sure you wear your seat belt while you're driving around in it with her... Would never want to see you get hurt.'

Very helpful!
