Hello All,
We will be moving from Europe to Boston By June and I have received good responses for Newton.
Our rental range for 3 Bedroom is around 2k.

Need recommendations for good schools, and affordable home in Brookline and Newton areas with larger Indian community( please don't think I am biased)It is just that we miss indian community in Europe and wanted to have experience with that as well.

Please let me know your feedback on Brookline vs Newton

Thanks

Brookline has the larger Indian population, per Wikipedia/US Census Bureau. Neither have huge Indian populations, though -- Brookline is 2.6%.

$2,000/month for a 3 BR won't cut it in either Brookline or Newton.

Acton, while much more suburban feeling than the others, has a larger Indian population and good schools assuming you assess schools based on standardized tests.

I think you will need closer to $3,000 / month or more for 3 bedrooms in Brookline or Newton; they are some of the most expensive parts of the Greater Boston Area.

A little further west, still offering Boston access via train and Mass Pike, and great schools (measurably below Brookline, but still very great) is Natick. Natick has a strong Indian community; I would estimate that roughly 10-20% of my child's elementary class is of Indian descent. In Natick, I think you can find 3 bedroom units renting for around $2,000.

Absolutely. Rent is going to be closer to $3K than $2K for a 3 bedroom in those areas.

Perhaps, the OP can let us know what draws them to Brookline & Newton and then we can suggest some alternatives that might fit their budget better.

Even Natick at 2K rent, OP is looking at a 2BR apartment or townhouse. 3BR with low inventory would be around 2.5K. I used to rent in Framingham and 2BR, 900 sq ft apartment was around 1.7K. Both Natick and Framingham have large Indian community but Natick has far better schools.

I'm in Brookline and agree with the others that 2k isn't enough for a 3 bed here and would guess that it isn't enough in Newton either. And although there are Indians here and there, I can't say there is a large Indian community in Brookline, not at all.

Best of luck.
