A month away from Jury Duty. I've never been to this court, so unsure how parking is. They recommend parking at a garage at Museum Place on Liberty St. Its still a 0.6 mile (12 min) walk from the courthouse.

Not that I don't mind a little exercise, but is there any other option for parking a bit closer...in case it's downpouring? No metered spaces.

What's their cell phone policy? I know other courthouses say no phones, but have usually allowed juror's to have a phone.

You could park at the commuter rail stop. It's across the street from the court.

Can't speak to the parking aspect, but I've been to 3 different courts in Middlesex County for jury duty and they all let me use a phone in the "holding area". Some were even using tablets or laptops to conduct business. I wouldn't take any calls though. I assume Salem would have a similar policy.

I've never been selected, but I would guess you'd be cut off at that point.

There is a parking lot around the corner on Church St (off Washington St). It's a city owned lot so not too expensive. Not sure if it fills up everyday, I'm typically only parking there on weekends or evenings.

That's been my experience as well. They let you have it to keep yourself occupied for the 5 hours or so you sit there.

When they bring you into the courtroom however, I've had to turn them off.

The Church St. lot is right across the street from the Museum Place parking garage. I don't think the garage is .6 miles away. If you exit the garage and head down Church, you're a short distance from Washington St. Cross Washington St. and you are pretty much at the court house.

I would park at the Commuter Rail parking garage. When you exit the garage the Court is directly across the street. You will, however, have to walk around to the opposite side of the Court building to get into the Court Lobby.

Will I find spaces there, or does it fill up early in the AM?

Well the day came and went. Parked in the commuter lot, and from there it was a 5 min walk on a gorgeous day.

Park 2nd level, exit on bridge street, and literally across the street and bang a right. $5 to park too.

It was explained that since the garage receives tax dollars to subsidize it's low rate, they aren't allowed to advertise it even though it was the most convienent.

Didn't get selected. Watched "Miracle" on the waiting room TV's. Not bad. I was having lunch with the wife by 1PM. Nice new building and everyone was polite. Quite the opposite of my days going to Chelsea court.
