Had a feeling. I used to do North Andover to Waltham during morning rush, and the stretch from the 93-495 interchange in Andover to the 93-3 interchange in Burlington alone took me 45 minutes, but again that was with traffic, and obviously I didn't have the option of taking backroads.

Andover to Burlington is very doable especially when one learns the alternative/back roads. I did that commute from Indian Ridge to a business on the Middlesex Turnpike Hwy, a bit north of the Burlington Mall. Average was less then 30 minutes.

Yes, it is against traffic, mainly highway and very little side road. This time can be easily doubled if the route incorporates more side roads and is with flow.
