I guess good ole Marty cares more about criminal illegals than his own citizens.

Quote:
Mayor Martin J. Walsh doubled down his support for the city’s sanctuary status after the head of the New England ICE office pleaded for such cities to stop shielding illegal immigrants and “assist in making communities safer.”

It could turn different if the illegals work cheaper than his union membership....Then again he is a politician and citizens could be left holding his reelection bag.

"Criminal illegals"

Incorrect terminology on many levels. Illegal is not a noun. Second, being in the country without a valid visa is not a crime (aka a criminal offense). It is a civil offense.

Good for the Mayor.

Its one thing to support undocumented immigrants but to shield undocumented criminals (DUI, theft, assault etc) from deportation is a bit too far in my opinion.

This type of attitude, realistically, will never change in Boston's leadership. No mayor would get elected saying anything other than this.

The money for Marty comes from unions and his Dorchester/Southie folks but the bulk of the votes votes now come from the progressives, immigrants and minorities that the city had to court here from 1980-2005 in order to keep the city afloat and grow its population.

48% of Boston is immigrants of the children of immigrants.

I would guess MOST of Boston are immigrants or children of immigrants - the Irish, Italians, French, German, English. Also Indian, Chinese, and Hispanic. All solid people contributing to Boston's economy.

^But what percentage of those are illegal? Out of those who are legitimately here and did things properly, what percentage actually sympathize with the illegals especially those who are criminals and most likely impacted by any ICE crackdown?

Totally depends on how they snuck in. Visa fraud is absolutely a crime, so is illegally crossing the border.

The correct term is "illegal aliens".

Good for lawbreakers.
Its is estimated about 2.5% of massachusetts' population is illegal immigrants. So we can extrapolate that to 4% of Boston. Or about 1 out of every 7/8 immigrants in the city may be illegal. So a little under 30k illegal immigrants in Boston.
