See: Ron Mariano

So you mean legislators. I believe our last governor to serve more than 2 terms is Dukakis? But the legislature is a real problem. I once lived in Mariano's district, he's useless.

Still we’re ought to have term limits that takes the bootlicking that comes with incumbency that exists within the statehouse, state agencies m, and state department much less prominent..because you know for certain can’t be more than 8 years, rather than the limbo were in now with Baker.

*with Patrick and Baker

From a governance standpoint, it feels like a continuation ... two moderate 'technocrats' who seemingly did not/do not want to pursue "big ideas". IMO, Romney is the last governor to leverage his executive seat to push through profound legislation (i.e., 'Romneycare').

People love to paint Deval as some Obama-esque figure due to the political ties, oration skills, and (I assume) their identities as black Harvard law grads ... but the reality is Deval never achieved or attempted some of the profound change Obama strived for as an executive despite being a Dem governor with a Dem majority state legislature.

People in Connecticut seem to like Ned Lamont more than they thought they would.

It was the 18t most dangerous city in the US per Morgan Quinto in 2003. It isn't in the top 50 anymore.

The casino project hasn't been a failure and is better than nothing. Its also slowly gaining population.
US Census has 26.9 poverty rate. Easily the worst in the state. That hasn’t been updated for COVID-19 yet.

Springfield saw a population blip when the hurricanes hit Puerto Rico. If you back that out, the population has otherwise declined. It’s barely up 500 since 2010.

Circling the drain. It’s laughable to assert otherwise.

Where both pulling from the Census (hence why the link I sourced is called Census Reporter-a site they created when American fact tinder was terminated) ACS numbers.

The difference is you’re looking at 2015-2019 on average which is essentially a 2017 balance, 4 years ago... I’m using the 1-year estimate for the year 2019. For a municipality of 155k the 2019 estimates are solid.

Springfield is always “looking up” until folks want to make a point, then it’s not..

The census poverty rate data undercounts significantly in places like Springfield since it’s not counting most illegals. There are 16 CDP neighborhoods in Springfield with > 40% poverty rate. By far the worst in the state.
