I will say that soundproofing was a major selling point used when I sold my condo. It was a brand new condo building so the entire building was built with it in place. It worked well enough that when you were in the unit, the only noise you heard was when people walked by the front door talking rather loudly. Other than that, it was quiet. Realtor definitely made sure it was noted in the listing as a selling point. This was 6-7 years ago, but it sold fast and over asking with no trouble.

Looking back, I do wish I kept it and rented it out.

We kept it and rented it out. We have done this each time we moved.

It has worked out great but it is work being a landlord.

OP I hope your job situations are stable.
Both our jobs are very stable and almost guaranteed merit increase every year, but not relying on it. To some people, that chunk of change could buy a sfh outright, but as I said, we have a higher standard when it comes to a house.

Glad it’s working out for you. Different strokes for different folks.

I am not familiar with Medford at all but I will add that I know several people with very decent dual incomes who have bought in the west side for similar reasons

It not the medfid of old ...... same as its no longer slummerville

Depends. How close do you need to be to Boston?

Thanks for the suggestion. We are sticking to the north shore. Traffic in the south is unpredictable. I’ve done both and we prefer to stay north shore and we have family there.
