Correction: The construction project wasn't for a house. It was an add-on for the funeral home. The funeral home is much bigger now...and right next to the house now.

There must be something wrong that only shows up in the inspection report. That house has been contingent and then relisted twice.

That sounds about right. You’d think at that price there wouldn’t be any sight unseen buyers. On the other hand there are a lot of rich dummies out there.

That last photo redplum33 posted is pretty damning. I don’t know if I could ever get used to the Mass Pike literally being my backyard. Plenty of people live that close to the highway, but most homes like that aren’t $600K+, it being Newton notwithstanding.

Just going by the listing some high income earner could be really intrigued by it before seeing (and hearing) all the drawbacks.

Given the recent market insanity that’s actually a pretty decent price. You have similar houses in Quincy or Weymouth, next to a junkyard or toxic waste dump, getting listed in the 600s.

I like that the neighbor at the now Coke machineless house is looking suspiciously at the Bing camera. It looks like I was right though and there is just one driveway intended for the formerly Coke machined house. Unless that driveway is for the listed house and the neighbor just parks at that little spot at the very end, literally right next to the Interstate barrier.

According to the listing the house comes with three open spaces in any case. If you have to share the parking lot with the funeral home I’d expect you to have to leave a lot of passive aggressive notes over the years for people taking up your spot(s).

It's also the cheapest SFH for sale in the zip code by over $200k. Someone who really wants Newton but thought it was out of their reach will take interest, despite the road noise and lousy curb appeal.
