Would it be possible to find anything below $700 to $800 rental for a college student in or around Springfield? A cousin needs temporary short term rental until she gets dorm accommodations, but doesn’t mind staying long term if it is a good place

With a roommate on without? One bedroom apartments can be 1200-1300 these days.

I suggest looking at bulletin boards around the school. There may be summer sub-lets in a group apartment.

Whatever means a student might look for sublet roommate: college student web site, Craigslist, reddit, etc.

I've seen that price range on Craigslist. I know nothing about Springfield but I hear there is crime so I would be careful.

I'm here because I have an interest in moving to this state.

Unless you do drugs or sell drugs or associate yourself very strongly with those that do or are in or related to prostitution you've got nothing to worry about. The vast majority of crime in urban areas is usually drug-related and by proxy prostitution and gang related.

Nothing to worry about??? How about not wanting to live in a war zone like Springfield or Holyoke?

Or Baltimore...

Heard about Holyoke and I'm staying away. Plenty to worry about especially checking out areas that one is not familiar with. To say otherwise is ignorant.

It's mainly disputes here and it's more than just drugs. My understanding is most are relationship disputes. Innocent people get caught in a crossfire. That concerns me a lot. So many guns out there. D/K about in your state but carjacking's are also a problem here, about 1K per year. Various robberies too, another thing one needs to be on their guard and vigilant at all times. Kind of sick of hearing about the rampant crime. I'm looking for a safe, liberal area...
