Way way way nicer looking than the average in this State.
You should have bought it then. Sounds like you're in love.

Nah, I have no need for another property to take care of about a half mile away from one that I have to care for already. I also don't love inanimate objects.

You just seemed really hot for this house justifying all the reasons for the 1.4 million pricetag.

Considering what it has going for it, I don't think that price is very egregious. I think they listed low hoping for a bidding war and got it.

I shouldn't be surprised anymore by these prices but I always am when I see a purchase like this.

It seems a bit high even for Arlington right now but nice for the sellers. Every lottery has a winner.

Definitely! Talk about getting in at the right time.

A former coworker of mine bough a pretty basic house (less nice than this, and no garage!) in the mid 90s on two teachers' salaries for around 200K. She eventually left teaching to go into higher ed administration, but they decided not to move despite feeling a little cramped.

She and her husband were able to retire at 60 largely because they sold the house for $1 million last year. They bought out some siblings a few years ago for a small family house on Cape Cod that itself is now probably worth over 1 mill, and that's where they live full time. With the proceeds of the house, they were able to help both their kids with down payments. Lots and lots of stories like that!

With the way prices have been the past few years I wonder if there will ever be stories like that again.

meh...couples are pulling in $300-400K a year these days. If you are and it's where you want to live, I say go for it.
