Still seems pretty amazing that they went from 30 to 3. Hingham schools have always been good but #3 seems like a stretch.

I also know a family who ironically left hingham this year for concord because they felt the schools had declined. Lots of Hingham folks send their kids to Derby and Thayer as well.

Good luck to Hingham with all the people who will want to move there now based on that ranking. If it stops people from moving to my town, tearing down forests to build mcmansions that would be great.

I guess all it takes is for one of these towns to have their average class size go up by one, and another town drop by one. That's why these rankings are a joke for the most part.

A small classroom size is not the end all be all of great learning either. Some kids do find in a class of 20.

The other thing to note is that if Hingham's classroom size went down it is certainly due to people using private schools in the area and people that live there are having fewer kids.

The town I live in it seems like many many people have, 3, 4 or 5 or even 6 kids.

Milton however is pretty crowded and most families there have 2-3 kids.

I think if the class size is too small, it can be counterproductive because "competition" is a motivation of studying.
A bigger sampling size of students also helps the individuals get to know how good/bad they really are.

These days with teachers quitting and every family flocking to the high ranking schools I think small classroom size might be a thing of the past.

I truly believe Hingham ratings must have gone up due to people leaving (making classes smaller). People in Hingham have an ungodly amount of money and lower taxes. Money isn't invested into the schools.

I heard Hingham residents didn't have trash pickup, they had to drive to the dump themselves. Is that true? I can't imagine all these rich people in million dollar homes doing that.
