What parents do you actually know that chose a school to send their kids to because of Christian values ?? All most people Around here care about are rankings. I know plenty of non Catholics/Christians at st Sebastians, Roxbury Latin, Newton country day, BC High, Notre dame, the list goes on. I'm guessing many of these schools don't even mention God. It's actually kind of sad and fake. It's like people who don't believe in God but still do Santa and the Easter bunny for their kids. People have taken religion out of many things but leave in all the fun stuff so their kids can still participate.

I don’t disagree on your final statements but know quite a few people who chose a Catholic education citing “values”. Schools on the south shorish area like Archies, Sacred Heart, and Spellman aren’t impressive. No one sends their kid thinking it will get them an academic or athletic scholarship.

BC High, Notre Dame, CM, Xavarian, St Seb’s etc are the status schools with reps for athletics and/or academic rigor.

I don't think the average parent is looking for impressive. They are looking for decent. They want the kid to have a chance. And it's more likely than not that the ones who chose for values are probably not the ones bullying this coach. That behavior is clearly not consistent with good values.

Right I'm not saying all Catholic schools are impressive. I know plenty of people living in the city of Boston who chose Catholics schools because they didn't want to use bps. Many of those people do have Catholic roots but it's not like they're showing up to church every Sunday or saying their prayers nightly the way their parents did. I'm also sure there's plenty who don't believe in anything but still use a Catholic school because it's better than the public school their town/city offers.

Sadly I’ve been to age 7-11 or so basketball games or soccer games and you can always tell the parents who are ultra competitive.

It's often not for religious reasons, but just the desire for an education focusing on reading, writing and arithmetic vs. teaching sex ed to 3rd graders and having kids pick pronouns to add to their names. Ironically, these days there's a lot more indoctrination going on in public schools vs. most Catholic schools in the area.
