So odd. Makes 187k and doesn't pay rent or oil bill. He even got $10k in rental assistance.

Sounds like one of the many serial con artists out there who knows how to cheat the system.

Not saying this is specifically the issue here but this would be typical behavior of someone with an addiction of some kind; gambling, drug, alcohol. What isn't typical is that he seems to have been able to carry this problem for so long in the type of sensitive position he is in without having it spill over into his work life in some way. If someone is that irresponsible with their finances it usually means they are irresponsible in other life areas. The most striking thing here is that he's gone before Courts and lied. Absolutely unacceptable for a person in his position. Also kind of hard to believe that these agencies don't do periodic background checks on their officer's credit and potential criminal history. Someone in deep debt may be ripe for corruption.

People like this is why I sold our long term rental. They have more rights to screw a landlord over than protections for those of us who are now portrayed as evil land barons.

I'm pleased to see this guy exposed. I hope the Stoneham town government takes appropriate action.

And of course while a cop doing this is particularly egregious, this type of behavior runs rampant and is even cheered-on by certain activists.

I've been on the fence about keeping my current property and renting it when I buy something else. Rents are so high I could really make it cash flow. However, stories like these make me not even want to get into the landlord business!

It's all the more galling, considering his income, that he doesn't pay, plus, apparently this is just the latest in a series of abusive/manipulative actions by this couple against landlords and in the courts.

There may of course be other factors - a gambling habit, a drug habit, etc - but they're clearly serial liars and con artists, and none of that excuses him from his debts and none of it repays all the people they seem to have ripped off over the years.
