O.K., I give...why is it that any other post about any other town other than Hingham or Marblehead is answered, in detail but not my two posts asking the same two questions? Is there some sacred oath not to discuss these two towns to outsiders or do people in these towns not bother reading and or answering questions regarding their towns? Very mysterious, Massachusetts, but not very helpful for those of us trying to find the right place to live. Maybe no answer should be my answer as to what those towns are like?

Hingham only has 5K people in town. Most of us do not live in those towns. What else can we say?

I can't help you with Marblehead because I've never been there. I've never lived in hingham either but I can tell you that from what I've read and from what I've seen (driving through) it's a nice town (and it can be expensive to live there especially the taxes). hingham is one of the towns that for years was against having the greenbush (a new commuter rail) line go through the town (there are other towns fighting to keep the line out of those towns as well). Hingham has that traditional new england town look to it. great little shops, whole foods (grocery store) is there, talbots (women's clothing) is headquartered there, you've got the ocean as well. the town does have a lot of rules in place when it comes to having a shop in downtown (certain type of signs, no crazy neon lights, etc.). one of the reasons the town doesn't want to commuter rail is because it will disrupt the look of their downtown.

Default Correction

I should have said there are 5K families which translate to about 20K people in town of Hingham.
