Thought I'd pass this along to everyone. Freecycle is rather like a "no cost" Craigslist sponsored by Yahoo. I just signed up for the Cape Cod region but there are others throughout MA and the country. A friend of mine has made out like a bandit in her area. Both getting rid of perfectly good stuff she no longer needs, and getting stuff she does. All for free! From kittens to furniture to appliances to sports equipment, and beyond. Pretty nifty site.
I joined the CC chapter when there were less than 400 members. It's really grown tremendously.
When I had to clean out my dads estate in south Florida, I joined two adjoining cities which worked out great. They were most accomodating... asking only that I wait 24 hours before posting to be sure someone from the first city didn't come get it.
John is the new owner/moderator of the CC chapter and has done a really good job controlling the posts as its grown 10 fold in size.
I have also had great luck with the CC chapter. I have a house at the cape and like to go up for a few weeks at a time. When I am there I find things that I am able to pass along to other freecycler's and have come across a few things that I have needed. I have noticed that Craigslist and Freecycle items tend to overlap with people posting on both sites.
