Are there good schools, reasonable rentals along with good access to medical facilities and shoping?

I knew a lady once who lived in Woester County <spelling>
but also heard it was very expensive?
a thing that I found fascinating is that apparently, MA doesn't tax clothing or food?

Would love some links posted if possible

Worcester County. The county city is the City of Worcester. See the following
link <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worcester,_Massachusetts>

Massachusetts doesn't tax clothes (except for what are considered luxury items) or groceries. There is a food tax on food served in restaurants.

Apologies. I meant to write the County Seat is the City of Worcester.

I currently live in Worcester County and have all of my life. Most of Massachusetts is very expensive compared to other areas in the country. Although there is no tax on food or clothing, the other taxes will make up for that (property etc). Are you looking for more of a city location, or something more rural? Worcester itself is a large city with excellent hospitals and access to decent schools. However, the crime rate, drugs and other issues associated with a big city come with it.

There are some nice suburbs around Worcester such as Holden, Berlin, Rutland, and Shrewsbury. I don't know about the schools in Rutland but I bet you can find reasonably priced rentals in most of these towns and I know the schools are well regarded in Shrewsbury and Holden. I doubt there are many rental places in Berlin though. You could get a very basic 2 bedroom apartment in a complex in Shrewsbury around $1,000, and house rental in that area for probably a few hundred more.

I live in Rutland and the schools are excellent (same school district as Holden). We just built a brand new elementary school last year. The town is extremely family oriented with parades and festivals for practically every holiday. The homes are more affordable than Shrewsbury. It is about a 20 minute drive into the city of Worcester. Good luck with your decision!!

There are nice areas in Worcester itself that feel almost like the suburbs or even the country if you go to the outskirts, especially near Paxton & Leicester. It is also generally cheaper to buy in the city of Worcester, although you need to carefully choose your neighborhood.
