The wind seems to be very gusty as you drive up thru Kihei. Is that normal? But it seems to be calm most of the day in Wailea and Makena. Lahaina and Kapalua was windy as well but still not as bad as that open area around Kihei.

Just trying to get a feel for the weather pattern as I consider a move to Maui. I lived in kansas for 8 years... would rather not have to deal with strong winds ever again. haha! And now I've been in San Diego coast for 3 years and love all the sun, lack of humidity, and very little rain.

What area on Maui would have the most sun, less rain, less wind? Wailea? Lahaina? Hoping to narrow my search down to a specific area.

On our first visit to Maui we stayed in Kihei and found that almost every afternoon the wind kicked up. It was so strong that the sand felt like the it was trying to blast the skin off our face! On our next visit we stayed in Lahaina and loved it there.

Wailea has a taller volcano protecting it - so it will have less rain and less wind.

The wind is good. When it's not windy it's hot and humid

I'm starting to get used to it. The breeze is nice in Wailea and south. but further north it feels like you are getting sand blasted at times.

Other than that, the weather has been incredible. 80 each day, light breeze, warm summer nights, no humidity. Ahhhhhh..... paradise!
