Also Maui Humane society does inspections for direct release at Kahului airport. Their website has a FAQ and Dr Kim will answer questions. My Idaho vet and I were able to send in the rabies tests from the HI official paperwork and then the test results can be looked up on HI website list with first allowed arrival date, listed by microchip number. We drew blood in May and our earliest arrival date is 9-19. All pets need to have had 2 rabies shots at least 30 days apart before testing.

I am SOOOO excited, our animal import forms are in the mail, tracking says we get them Monday!!! We arrive in Kona in three more weeks, and we have already paid the state contracted vet there to receive our puppers. It was very difficult and very expensive to make this happen, but our doggies are worth it.

Mahalo, Kelly! We are landing in Kona next week with our dogs, and I can't say enough about the helpfulness and friendliness of the veterinary service there who will be meeting our flight. You sound just as helpful and friendly.

I remember feeling so overwhelmed at the beginning of this process, wondering how on earth I'd ever get my little buddies into HI. Between the helpful people on this forum, my local vet who has helped others through the process, the vet in Kona, and the people in the Ag Department who were always happy to answer questions, we did it!
