Hey All,

Just moved to Maui! I have lived here before as a live in nanny, but now I am back with my husband and I need some tips.
First where is the cheapest place to shop? If Farmers Markets then when and where can I find them?
Second, I have been to places like Iao Valley, some Hana, and known things like that, but where are cool places I HAVE to go?? I want lots of adventure!!
Third, any other useful tips or information would be greatly appreciated!!

Also.. we are staying in a friends ohana for 3 weeks, but then need to find a place to rent in either Pukalani, Haiku or Paia areas for under $850mo if anyone knows of a place. Thanks so much!!

Usually asking neighbors or friends will give you the best advice on where to shop since a lot of that is entirely dependent on where you're at. Saving $$$ at a store doesn't work if you have to spend too much $$$ to get there. A lot of it also depends on what you are shopping for.

How about adventure in the water with a kayak or paddle board? You can probably find one of those on Craig's List at a reasonable rate.

Under 850 a month?? Good luck with that. As for food - depends on where you live. I would avoid Safeway and Whole Foods. CostCo is cheap for bulk stuff.

I never get tired of looking at whales. I think there are more off the N shore than in Waalaea bay. And they come in pretty close to the cliffs off Ho'okipa. But of course you will have to wait until November when they return.

I have actually found several ohanas for rent for under $850. Mostly in Makawao, Pukalani, and Haiku. There are at least 2 postings a day on craigslist for that price. I just wanted input on where would be the best to live out of those choices and if anyone catches wind of a rental it would be nice to know about.

Default So much to see and DO!!!

Cheapest place to shop is Kahului or online. If you want a list of Farmers Markets go to The Maui Travel Guide - Maui, HI The Maui Travel Guide - Maui, HI its a great resource and has those listed on the dining page. Check out the activities to do as well.... they list everything!

For a place to live.... Haiku for sure!
Good luck!
A
