There is a fairly good chance I might be transferred to Kihei for a year from San Diego. I actually have been to the area many times so I am familiar with the area (lived on the Big Island). Most of the Google search results are for vacation rentals. I'm looking for a place that is up to a year lease (month to month preferred or 6 months, but year is fine).

I checked the paper and Craigslist. The only rental groups I found were homemanagersmaui.com, palikairealtors.com and Shore to Shore Realty. Are there any others that you know of?

Looking to be within a 30 minute commute from Kihei. Hours would probably be 8-4.

Since it would be a move of probably just a year, furnished is preferred but not necessary. Can do up to $1300 max for a studio or 1 bedroom, which I know won't get me far. In that price range, are the buildings a little "rough"? In Hilo most of the apartment buildings had a lot of tenants per unit, were loud due to all the kids, drug deals going down in parking lots, etc..

Question doable...

Check out Kihei Villages. Some very nice units. Depending on your dates our unit may be
available. Quite nice, private, semi-furnished (unless our LL wishes to buy our furniture
from us) great lanai, 2b/1.5 bath, w/d, AC the whole shabang...$1,250.00 month. They
are definately out there.
