The wife and I are curious what types of holiday festivities there are going on around the holidays in Maui.

I have heard Santa is at the queen kaahumanu mall, and I have heard that 6 shipping containers full of christmas trees were contaminated with slugs and I have heard a little christmas music in the grocery store.

Are there any light displays or parades or any other fun holiday activities that I might want to check out?

A lot of my co-workers made reservations at the fancy restaurants for Thanksgiving but that sounds like the easy way out to me. I would enjoy something a bit more than simply eating out.

Thanks!

If you are still in Wailuku, then the mall will have santa or hello kitty for the kids, and santa pics as well. Slugs or other vermin on trees is common, but they'll still have more trees available. Upcountry has locally grown trees for sale too, although not as leafy. Usually Kaahumanu shopping center will have Xmas carolers wandering around from store to store in December. Last year we saw/heard some wandering around Makawao.

Maui Mall puts up a show or two, so does Wailea shopping center. Not sure about west maui since I avoid that side this time of the year unless I have to work.

Lights are pretty nice around Maui Lani, we drive through that area to look around at night. Not really sure about light shows.

The Maui News used to publish where the homes were decorated for viewing as well as special events at malls and hotels. We always went at least one night to the Ritz Carlton as they always decorated elegantly for Christmas.

There's a Christmas parade in Makawao

Here are some pictures I took in 2011
