From my experience with Amazon I see no need for Amazon Prime. I purchased a few things with free standard shipping last Thursday and it arrived on Tuesday and Wed. I say ship as much as you need that you can fit in the container. Mattresses and furniture are pretty expensive here. When I head back to the Bay in March, I'll be purchasing some furniture and use a freight forwarder to deliver. I can still save money that way instead of buying here.

I guess I'm fortunate is the person I am leaving my stuff with is my mother, plus I have alot of family from my hometown and they come to Maui yearly.

But... I am definitely going to get some Goya Seasoning and some jalapeno jelly before I head there.

+1 on the USPS use.

I used Flat Rate Boxes to send anything that would fit in them...tools, silverware, pens, notepads, etc. I wish I had shipped my good knife set, and I read spices in an earilier post...oh how that would have been a GREAT thing to ship. When I sent the boxes I made an inventory and numbered the outside, 1/13, 2/13, etc.

I shipped my -paid off- Honda CRV. It had 165K miles on it 3 years ago, just now tipping 190K. SUPER glad I shipped it.

Electric razor.

Don't ship a Land Rover over. When it requires repairs, the parts will be difficult to find

Sell the Land Rover...check. What about the Bentley? Yea or nay?

On a serious note, do leather car seats suffer from the maladies that plague leather shoes in Hawaii?

Very true...mine is in decent condition, but maybe it's better as a trade in Hawaii? Honestly, I'd rather dump the car here in Houston, and look around for a car on Hawaii. I will miss the car....but not the horrible gas mileage!
