You have to specify-- Real boogieboarding like locals do with fins, or like tourists do in shallow water?

For the real stuff, Paia Bay is popular. For tourists, Wailea and the Kamaole I, II, III beaches

Makena is really dangerous though because the beach is so steep, so the waves break close to the shore and will slam you downward

Even at Wailea I've been tumbled by 3-4 foot waves just wading in the surf

I just went to Polo beach on a high surf day, and the waves near the shore were great. Are there any good sandy beaches like that in the northern Kaanapali to Kapalua?
