Looking for a place that sells contemporary style bedroom furniture. We've been to Maui Living, Lifestyle Maui, BJ's, and Litz but their prices are either too steep or not our style. Can someone recommend a place for us? Thanks.

Try Mind's Eye in Lahaina? They have a lot in stock and will get almost anything you want. (Not cheap, of course.)

Well, you are living on a rock 2,500 miles away from any large land mass. There isn't enough population to keep stores for everything. At least there are some furniture stores to choose from even if they don't have exactly what you want.

Craig's List. Or yard sales. Or have someone make the furniture for you. Or mail order and ship.

Generally when living on these islands, you look to see what's available first, then decide what to buy. If you start out with a shopping list, frequently you won't be able to find what is on the list.

Similarly, Kimo's in Kahului. There is, however, a point at which one wants what they want v. what is inexpensive. I (IMHO) have found that some local retailers are more likely than others to stock (or have access to) particular styles of furniture. As a designer myself, I -- personally -- am not completely sure what the OP meant by "contemporary," but I am (pretty) sure the Mind's Eye staff -- or Moore's Interiors or Latitudes or similar retailers -- would help them find it before some of the others listed, who are more intent on selling what's on their floors. Living here really is an intricate balance of what-one-wants v. what-one-can-find/afford.

IMHO, of course.

Affordable furniture. Lowest prices I've found. On Dairy Road. Across the street from Officemax.

kimo's has been out of biz for quite some time now, unless they opened up again else where
