Aloha All,

Here in the Northwest, we are in the midst of Salmon season. Hopefully we will have a good catch this year. We will be heading to Maui for our annual visit in July. We thought it would be nice to show our Aloha by sharing some fresh salmon with our Hawaiian friends. Any suggestions on how we can get the Salmon to Maui with us?

Many Mahalo's

You can pack it in a cooler and carry it aboard, or check it as baggage. If using dry ice, you have to ship it as cargo with proper labeling and container. You can also ship it via UPS or FedEx overnight perisable.

The only problem in your carry on is that ice or freezer packs are not allowed. I've been busted traveling from Oahu to Kauai doing the same thing and they made me throw away the freezer packs.

A checked cooler would be the way to go, other than the baggage cost.

Good idea about sharing the fish.

Sharing the fish ! ? !,

heck if you got enough for me (and the pilot, first officer, flight engineer, relief pilot, A&P tech and cargo master,) I'm sure we can come to an agreement to ship a couple hundred pounds at no charge!

Mahalo to all of you for your great information,

We do smoke (in a smoker) our Salmon and have canned the salmon, which believe it or not, it is very good that way. I'm wondering if that might be another option and an easier way to get it to Maui.

If you ship a hundred pounds or so to me, I can test out your shipping methods and let you know how well you did.

We're heading out Salmon fishing again in the morning and through the weekend. I will keep you posted as to how we do .
