Don Lemon Says His New Job As CNN's Janitor Is Not A Demotion

Sep 19, 2022 · BabylonBee.com

NEW YORK CITY — Newly demoted CNN employee Don Lemon says his new role as CNN's Third Shift Janitor should not be viewed as a demotion because he "gets a really cool key that gives him special access to every room in the building."

"I am proud to announce that CNN has seen fit to promote me to Janitor," said Lemon on his last evening news broadcast. "I thank CNN for putting their trust in my abilities and I accept this very important responsibility."

According to sources, the former prime-time news anchor was engaged in a lengthy debate with a hot dog vendor on West 33rd Street during his 4 AM lunch break. "They need me," argued the former prime-time news anchor. "Who else are they going to trust with all these chemicals?"

A quick search shows his CNN salary at $4M-$10M. Wonder if he's getting a salary cut to go to a much-less-viewed timeslot than his evening show.

And while we're at it - why do anchors and network personalities (not just Don - all of them) get paid so much to opine about current events? It just makes no sense to me.

Bingo. Same thing for professional athletes, advertising and media contracts are massive.

The "M" in $4M- $10M should stand for Month i.e. $4/Mo.- $10/Mo.....his true worth.

All those talking heads have ironclad contracts.

CNN doesn't want to cut Lemmon loose.
That says his demotion may be temporary, but it doesn't say if Lemmon will go back to his old job or not.

Benching him could be one way of forcing him to quit instead of being fired. But if his replacement falls flat, benching him is also a way they can bring him back on the same salary.
